How to Store Custom and Corporate Flags Properly
Store custom and corporate flags clean, fully dry and identified by their approved design and dimensions. The aim is to retrieve an undamaged, correct flag for the next event without guessing which version is in the bag. Storage is also a good point to inspect seams and attachments. A short packing record is especially useful for businesses with multiple branches, several seasonal campaigns or a mixture of indoor and outdoor flag sets.

Inspect before packing
Open the complete flag on a clean surface after its last use. Check hems, sleeves, eyelets and printed areas, then record damage that needs attention. Do not pack an item requiring repair into the same ready-to-use stock as inspected flags. Separating these states avoids discovering a tear only when the display team is preparing to leave for the next exhibition or company event.
Follow the agreed care routine
Use the product's own cleaning and drying instructions. Annin advises against putting flags away damp; take particular care with thicker seams and any layered sections. Do not rely only on the outer surface feeling dry. If the item has trims or attached hardware, ask how these should be handled before cleaning and storage rather than assuming the main fabric's method applies to the whole assembly.
Choose protective organisation
Keep fabric away from rough shelving, exposed fasteners and dirty equipment. Ask the supplier whether folding or rolling is preferable for the specific flag and finishing. Keep detachable poles and hardware separate enough to avoid snagging the cloth, but identify them as belonging to the same set. The container should make it easy for staff to return the item without forcing it into a crowded space.
Label the container and record the contents
Mark the outside with the product SKU, artwork version, dimensions, quantity and intended location. Where several flags look similar, add a simple reference photograph to the internal inventory. Keep older branding separate from current approved artwork. A staff member should be able to identify the required flag without unfolding every item, spreading stock on the floor or opening several completed event kits.
Check stored stock before the next use
Schedule a review before major events, allowing time for cleaning, repair or replacement if needed. Confirm that the stored flag still matches the current campaign and its pole or stand. Orient Uniforms FZE can quote replacements using the retained SKU and approved specification. Ask for packing and care guidance with new products so your storage procedure reflects the supplied fabric, finishing and accessories.
Questions & answers
Can I store a flag on its pole?
Confirm the recommended arrangement for the product and available space. Attached hardware can create pressure points or snag fabric during handling.
Should event stock be checked only when returned?
Check it on return and again before dispatch. That second review also catches changed artwork, missing accessories or an unsuitable kit allocation.
